I am Dr. Prakash HM and I will be answering your query.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows:

1. Yes, Spiriva Respimat can be used in COPD.
2. If the cough is due to bronchoconstriction, it will be very helpful.
3. Once a day, it can be used, and is is active all day.
4. However, watch out for any allergic effects, breathing difficulties, head ache and blood pressure variations. If you have none, you can use it safely.

Not sure about other medications being taken. Do discuss with your doctor regarding interactions, if any.

Thanks for asking again.

Spiriva is known to rarely cause depression as an adverse effect.

If depression has started after therapy with spiriva, then it could be the cause. Requires stopping of spiriva and replacement with other bronchodilator for confirmation.
If depression is earlier already present, it may not be worsened by using spiriva.
If Spiriva is being started now, symptomatic improvement in COPD could reduce depression. However, depression treatment requires psychiatrist opinion.
