Is The Dosage Written On Foils Accurate?

default
Posted on Mon, 21 Apr 2014
Question: hi there, i just started suboxone and i asked the dr to put me on 4mg/day. for a week i rec'd 2 tiny white hexagonal pills/day. i find that i'm still sweating and anxious so today i asked to be put on 6mg/day. when i had the prescription filled i rec'd a 3 day supply and the label on the bottles said 2mg/0.5mg buprenorphine/naloxone. They don't remove the pills from the foil, they put unopened, foiled pills in separate bottles, one bottle/day. So there were 3 foiled packages in each of the 3 bottles. The foil reads 8mg buprenorphine and 2mg naloxone. The each pill itself inside the foil has 8N on it. These pills are the same shape as the 2mg but they are 4 times the size. It looks like i rec'd (3) x 8mg of suboxone per day for a total of 24mg of suboxone per day. I guess my question is - is my assumption correct that these pills are 8 mg each like the foil says or 2mg each like the pharmacist printed on the label.

Brief Answer: The foil never reads wrong Detailed Answer: Hello, Thanks for choosing health care magic for posting your query. I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through. I guess the foil is right and your pharmacist seems to have mistaken while prescribing you the medications. The foil will never read wrong. And the impression of 8N is further evidence for the tablet to be 8mg/2mg suboxone. You have to bring this to the notice of your treating doctor and pharmacist and who can correct your prescription. Its good that you were vigilant over this aspect. Hope I am able to answer your concerns. If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you. If not, you may close the discussion and if possible you may rate the answer for me, so that I get a good feedback.
