Brief Answer:
It is safe to take 20 mg of Prilosec 30 minutes after taking 4 mg of Zofran

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Prilosec (omeprazole) decreases acid production in the stomach. By decreasing acid production it reduces aggressive effects of the acid to the internal lining the stomach providing relief of acid-related indigestion, decreases pain and promotes healing. Zofran (ondansetron) is used to prevent nausea and vomiting.

It is safe to take 20 mg of Prilosec 30 minutes after taking 4 mg of Zofran. These 2 medications do not interact with each other. Some manufacturers even produce omeprazole and ondansetron in a single pill.

Please try the following life style modifications, which may help to relief dry heaves (retching) while on prilosec and zofran: sometimes retching is caused by low sugar level in the blood. Eating small meals several times a day may help. Also, stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids but avoid alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, chocolate, or any spicy food. Furthermore, stay upright at least 2-3 hours after eating and never lie down on a full stomach. Sleeping in a bed with a pillow elevating your head 6 to 8 inches helps to decrease stomach acid reflux and prevent dry heaving.

Hope the information is helpful for you. Please, let me know if I can assist you further.
Thank you
