Brief Answer:
kidney stones

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

kidney stones cannot be dissolved. but they can be broken down by lithotripsy. also they can be prevented from growing by identifying any causative factors. like high calcium phosphorus in blood or high uric acid levels.

stones less then 5 mm in size generally come out by themselves. stones larger than 8 mm generally will not come out by themselves.

what best you can do-

rule out urine infection by urine routine and culture. see kidney functions. if they are normal you should take at least 3 litre of liquids/day. you can take potassium citrate in guidance with your doctor and avoid non-veg and milk products

in case there is pain or urine infection then it is better to get the stone removed.

i think this should clarify lot of your doubts. in case any other query please write in.

Best wishes

Brief Answer:
kidney stones

Detailed Answer:
"But what I have observed, my stone dissolves."

there can be two things-

1. stone actually decreases in size- Rare occurence, may occur with uric acid stones. or very small stones which are just in initial stages of formation.

2. small stones are passed out and therefore not seen. the ultrasound used to test the size of stone is operator dependent. if you measure size of same stone 3 times you will get different size each time. so if your scan shows a decrease from 10 mm to 8 mm- there may actually be no change. Also stones may break into smaller stones.

CURRENT SITUATION IS NOT SEVERE. but you have to follow advise of your doctor.
echo reflective calculi- stones apprear white on ultrasound- as they reflect all the ultrasonic waves used in ultrasound. therefore they are called echoreflective.

best wishes.
