Question : I have diabetic, neuropathy, pain for 15-20 yrs The pain at first wasn't noticeable enough to realize that I was headed to diabetes. but I feel at work 2 stories and my waist down got twisted more than 90 degrees destroying back surgery I had in 2009 ,fell in 2010, Pain management is cutting back on my morphine,30 mg 4 times a day, made life tolerable but still in bad pain, now they want me to take zonisamide capsules, I had used keppra for sciatica but it didn't work, why in the you know what are they pushing seizure meds on me, the pill will cause more health issues than the risk,I don't see anyone taking this for degenerative disc disease .Is there any reason to take a seizure med for low back disc pain or neuropathy ?
Brief Answer:
About your concern:
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Anti-epileptic agents are also frequently used to treat other conditions including neuropathic pain syndromes, such as, those that are associated with migraine headaches, diabetic neuralgia and neuropathic pain syndromes that were refractory to other pain therapies.
Some patients who do not respond to any treatments in the past obtain 'noticeable pain relief'.
Hope the information will help.
