There are two possibilities which may underlie these hearing of nice songs over last 7 months.

1. Ear problems- there are many disorders which can cause this phenomenon. Even hard of hearing, one of the common geriatric problem is one among them.

2. Neurological problems - Examples include lewy body dementia, Parkinson disease.

In my opinion discussing this problem with your doctor on next visit can help you. I must assure you that this is not an emergency and you can take your time to see your doctor.
