There are several things you can do to help yourself with tinnitus.
Sometimes tinnitus is caused by medication you are taking and stopping this medications can improve it.
Also an ear wax cleaning can help.
You can do a total blood count because iron deficiency anemia can sometimes cause tinnitus and taking iron supplements can improve symptoms.
Also you can find relieve using hearing aids and tinnitus retraining or masking devices.

Your doctor may prescribe tricyclic antidepressants such Amitriptyline or alprazolam (Xanax) to reduce tinnitus significantly.
