Question : Is it okay to have Augmentin 625 with Doxy 100 twice a day both? It is for a persistent bacterial infection.
Brief Answer:
The combination is not routinely prescribed.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Welcome.
This combination is not routinely used.
They can be considered as they have different Antibacterial spectrum.
Some studies suggest when taken together the effectiveness of amoxicillin, which is present in augmentin, is compromised to certain extent.
It is better to go for pus culture and sensitivity, and based on the investigation report one can decide on the appropriate Antibacterial agent.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
