Brief Answer:
Please provide more details.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Pain in tooth or toothache is commonly due to decay in tooth.

As you have written that pain is in the gum I would like to make a bit clear before I proceed to advise you.

-Is there pain in one tooth or many teeth?
-Do you have decay in teeth?
-Do you have swelling in gums?
-do you have bleeding from gums?
-Since how many days you have toothache?
-Is there sensitivity to any hot or cold foods present?
-Are your teeth loose?

Please revert back with answers.

Brief Answer:
Looks like tooth infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
From your explanation it looks more like a tooth infection and less probably like a gum infection.
But for a confirmation you should get an x ray of the tooth done.
If there is tooth infection and nerve is exposed then you have to get root canal treatment of the tooth done.
If there is gum infection localized cleaning of gum has to be done.
Taking painkiller is a temporary relief so for permanent relief you should get appropriately treated by a Dentist.

Thanks.
