Is This Normal To Have A Migraine For So Long?

Please get MRI and MRAngio of brain
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history about 31 years old female taking Insulin for Diabetes and having migraine like headache. Felt right eye stiff and filled with pressure once.
In all cases of such headache it is mandatory to have MRI and MRI angiography of brain to confirm or rule out any internal actual problem before we say this to be migraine.
Secondly, diabetes has to be well controlled.
Migraine can continue form few hours to a few days in varying intensity.
Control of stress and anxiety helps a lot.
Topomax is given in migraine headache in adults and can help.
Please get the investigations done.
Have an opinion of an Ophthalmologist to rule out any changes in eyes.
Opinion of a Neurologist will help to clarify the diagnosis and have proper management.
I hope this answers your query.
Please give feedback.

I am a type 1 diabetic and take good care of myself. I’ve had it since I was a child. My blood sugars are well under control.
I have been very stressed this year, and do have anxiety. I’m sure a mix of the two has not been healthy for me. I was just concerned because all of my other migraines have gone away in the past but this one has not.
My eye doctor found nothing abnormal when I went in. My vision was perfect. There were no changes or concerns.
Can it be normal for people who can get migraines to have them where they can last a longer period of time? If something was going on neurologically is there any other symptoms I should keep an eye out for?

Thanks for your detailed feedback.
To answer your queries:
- Please let me know the frequency and duration of migraine attack. That is how many times in a week/month?
For how much time once you get the attack?
- Other symptoms to keep an eye for:
Nausea
Vomiting
Instigating factors
Enhancing factors
Relieving factors
Neck pain
Tinnitus - sound/noise in ears
Visual disturbances - nice to know that you have already consulted an Ophthalmologist.
Any other symptoms?
Does attack of migraine raise the blood sugar
Awaiting for your feedback.

So this cycle of migraine that I have had is very new for me. This is something that has never gone away really before. This started in early October, it stopped the first week of November. I went for a week with no migraine symptoms and that was around the time of my menstrual cycle Where it was gone. I am also on birth control. I do take taytulla.
About a week later is when it started up again and then I went to the neurologist that week and started taking the toprimate/topomax regularly and my symptoms went away. However as soon as I got off the toprimate I started to get migraine symptoms again.
This migraine stayed consistently for almost 4 weeks. I had no other symptoms. No other pain, no vomiting, my blood sugars have been Normal, the only thing that I am is very tired but I have always felt extremely fatigued. Having an autoimmune disease I know can also cause me to feel tired. I also do have the antibodies for Hashimoto’s disease but I have not started treatment because my levels aren’t at the spot where I should start medication yet.
I hope I answered all of your questions. Please let me know if you need any other information.
Better to stop any hormonal medication.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks again for your detailed feedback, it helps.
As per my knowledge, Taytulla is a combination of hormones and headache is one known side effects.
It can certainly be a factor in your recent developments.
I would advise you to stop any hormonal preparation/medication at an appropriate time after consulting your Gynecologist and go for alternate and safer contraception. Copper-T (IUD) may be a better option.
I hope this answer helps you.

Detailed Answer:
There are so many other factors in additional to hormones taken that alter the body conditions.
Say for example: stress, anxiety, moods, foods, social/family conditions and so on.
And everything else is fast changing too.
All such factors decide the effects of hormones that you are taking.
They change the natural body physiology/mechanisms.
Hence what you think is true to some extent.
Take care.

I did have one other additional question I just thought of. I also have acid reflux and take 40 mg of omeprazel every day to treat it. Is there any concerns with that, that could effect my head?
As detailed
Detailed Answer:
Noted your additional history.
Just married: stop hormonal preparation as discussed and your partner needs to use condoms as Copper-T may not be possible.
I hope the married life is fine and happy.
For GERD - acid reflux
Try to stop Omeprazole and shift to Ranitidine 150 mg twice daily at 12 hourly interval. Omeprazole also can cause headache as uncommon side effect.
Get a prescription based Domperidone ( as per your body weight and at 8 hourly interval) as motility regulator for GERD and it also helps in headache/migraine.
Take antacids when on empty stomach.
Soft bland diet, Small frequent meals.
Control of anxiety and stress looks to be important for headache as well as GERD.
Get well soon and have a happy married life.
I hope this answer helps you further.
