Is This Right Medicine P-250 - 5 Ml 4 Hrs Once If Temperature Raise For Fever?

Question : Hi Doctor, My son 4.5 Year old, weight 15.7 kg, last 3 days he passing lose stools with stomach pain too, and also he suffers fever temperature range around 99.9 to 102, due to current lock down in XXXXXXX unable to visit hospital or doctors place, we used to give last prescribed medicine P-250 - 5 ml 4 hrs once if temperature <100 & TAXIM-O - 5 ml twice in a day. this medicine started at yesterday only.
Is this right medicine for this illness. if it is incorrect kindly help me to advice the correct medicine & dosage.

Hi

Fever, abdominal pain and loose stools suggests acute gastroenteritis. Persistence of fever beyond 3 days, presence of blood or mucus in stools or pain while passing stools suggest a bacterial cause. For such cases, I used to antibiotics like Taxim-o, along with zinc and probiotics for 5 days.

So you can continue giving Taxim-O(total 5-6 days) and P-250 for fever. It is better to add zinc drops and a probiotic too. I used to give Z&D drops(20mg/ml) 1ml once daily for 2 weeks and DAROLAC or ECONORM XXXXXXX once daily for 5 days.

Meanwhile, give him frequent sips of ORS after each stools(about 160ml) to prevent dehydration. Avoid fruits, juices and sugary items till recovery. Drink only boiled/packaged/RO filtered water for drinking to avoid future recurrences.

If fever dose not come down after 48-72 hours of starting antibiotics, he becomes very lethargic, or not at all taking feeds, kindly take him to your pediatrician. Otherwise we need not worry- just complete the treatment as mentioned.
