Brief Answer:
Needle biopsy

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

If you have strong suspicion about thyroid cancer with your grandmother, and if you feel you are inheriting it, then you can get blood tests for Medullary thyroid cancer and Ultrasounds. Believe me these are really good screening tests for young people who suspect cancer that run in their families. Your doctor is doing right but it has to be more frequent than what it is was now.

The other way is the doctor can find if there is an suspected nodule or swelling in the thyroid and can do a needle biopsy and send it to pathology testing.

If all of the above do not reveal any results then you might be thinking more than what you actually have. Have faith in the process of testing than fear of having a disease. This may be my piece of advice after all the testing. However you can continue to go to your doctor for general examination including thyroid once in 6 months to an year. please continue your Tirosint.

Hope this answers
