Question : Is valacyclovir a good medication to take for canker sores. I know it works for cold sores but I've heard conflicting answers to this question.
My whole entire mouth and tongue were covered in canker sores. I was sick and that came with it. first time ever having a canker sores.
What medication do you recommend?

The treatment for canker sore is conservative.

The treatment for canker sore is conservative. You can apply some steroid local application. It will decrease the irritation of the oral cavity and reduce the inflammation. Don't take citrus fruit as it will irritate the mucosa. Take vitamin supplements. Avoid stress, spicy food. You can take an anti inflammatory tablet, antacid for decreasing pain and reducing inflammation. You can take some chlorhexidine gargle. Take more fluids, vegetables. There is no need of antivirals tablet valacyclovir in canker sore.
