Question : Hello. I have had about 5 major depressions in my adult lifetime. Prozac has always lifted me out. I just started and am on 20 mg after two weeks. My question is: Is it ok to have a glass of wine once in a while (say, twice a week) while on Prozac? I've never done this before but the feelings are so miserable, I think it would give me a brief reprieve in the evening.

                                    Brief Answer:
It is safe once in a while in small quantities
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.
I am so sorry to hear about this depression. It is safe to take alcohol in small quantities once in a while alongside being on this drug. It may increase symptoms of drowsiness, difficulties concentrating and dizziness. Beyond this, there is no life threatening complication if alcohol is taking in small quantities.
In all, it is safe once in a while if taken is small quantities.
I hope this fully addresses your query. I wish you well and feel free to ask for clarifications or more information if need be. Thanks for using our services.
