Question: It's about myself. Two weeks back while in sleep I felt very much discomfort, I suddenly woke up and was very friegtened. There was chest pain, headache. I rushed to medical emergency but BP was normal, I took ondem and pentroprazole. And after sometime I was releived. But the symptoms came back after some days. With sleepless nights, anxiety, nausea. ECG, ECHO, Usg, blood reports everything came normal. BP was 150/90. Now I am taking nexito, olmesartan, clonazepam and pentroprazole. A little better now, but during the day this anxiety strucks with nausea and headache. It is affecting my day to day works. Please suggest how long it will take to cure?

Hello,
Thanks for being at 'Ask A Doctor' service.

I read your query and understand your concerns.

From the available description, it appears that you are suffering from anxiety disorder/panic disorder as characterized by symptomatology.

Considering the nature of disorder it can be stated that it takes around 2-4 weeks to show significant effect although the complete response may take up to 12 weeks.

To have minimal effect on your work/day to day life it is expected to normalize by 4-6 weeks.

I hope this answers your query.
Please feel free to write back to me if you have more questions.

Thanks and regards

Thanks sir. Are the medications correct in my case? What should I do when I get headache/nausea/panic to get relief apart from medicines? I had such episodes 10 years back when I was panicked due to BPPV(Vertigo). But after that everything was normal. How can these things be permanently cured? Please help.

Brief Answer:
There will be some chance of recurrence in future

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
Thanks for reverting back to me.

In regard to anxiety disorder/panic disorder (my provisional diagnosis) Nexito forms one the pillars of treatment and can be considered appropriate for the condition.

Clonazepam also forms another pillar of treatment and generally effective much earlier than the nexito. However this needs to be removed after a certain period/some level of response determined by your treating doctor.

Regarding the possibility of cure, I like to assure you that treatment is possible but cure is generally not possible. There will be always some chance of recurrence in future.

I hope this helps you further.
Thanks and regards.
