Question : I've been diagnosed with folliculitis of the face and external ear canal. Is it okay to scrape off any crusty scabs before applying antibiotic ointment, or should I just apply ointment to the scab?

Brief Answer:
Regarding folliculitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to ask a doctor service. I have reviewed your query and noted your concern.

Just apply antibiotic ointment. No need to scrape off crusts. They would automatically come off. Scrapping aggressively may aid spread of infection.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if you need any more assistance.
