Question : I’ve been experienced hard bumps around my labia major which takes weeks to go away. They only hurt when pressure has been applied. I’ve been tested for a full panel of STDs and they are all negative. What could it be?

Hello dear and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your symptoms seem to be related to pimples.

They can be caused by ingrown hairs, especially if you shave the pubic area.

I would recommend soaking in warm water for several minutes.

I recommend applying a topical over-the-counter antibiotic such as Bacitracin cream in the area twice a day.

I also suggest using loose cotton underwear and avoid shaving the area until the bumps disappear.

In case that you have more pain I recommend using anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen 600 mg three twice a day.
