Question : I’ve been having stool in separate pieces the last week. The stool is soft not hard. I’m going daily. What could cause this? I also have a lot of mucus in stool as well as abdominal pain after bowel movement

Hi and thank you for asking!
You are reporting to have soft and in seperated pieces stools with abdominal pain .
These symptoms may be due to:
- Gastrointenstinal candida overgrowth /parasites
- diverticulitis
- IBS
If I were your treating doctor I wouls uggest to start your investigation with :
- fecal culture test for candida and parasites infection
- colonoscopy ( after ruling out large bowel infection)
Meantime I would suggest to start probiotics for at least 2 weeks.
