I am Dr Ajeet XXXXXXX

I have gone through your query and here is my opinion.

Any recovery from anesthesia has 3 steps...

1)Immediate-Patient regains consciousness,is arousable, there is return of airway reflexes and muscle power.
Patient is moved out of OT.

2.Intermediate-Patient does not feel dizzy and power of coordination returns.
Patient is discharged from Hospital.

3.Long term-Patient recovers higher intellectual functions and there are no residual effects.
This stage may last for hours and even days.

Recovery from surgery and anesthesia is multi factorial and depends on many patient factors like age, gender, genetics, body mass index, thyroid levels, status of blood sugar,Serum electrolytes, body temperature, history of alcohol or drug addiction and co morbid conditions.

It also depend on many drug factors like heavy pre medication, duration of anesthesia, drug type used, route of administration(volatile agents leave early, intravenous agents leave late),drug dose, drug half life, affinity for storage in fats, drug distribution and excretion profiles.

At times, there is an exaggerated body response to anesthetic agents.
Patient feels sedation and body aches even after many days of event.

You would recover fully in a couple of days when most of the drugs would be out of your body system.

Time being, you can take the anesthesia recovery diet which causes detox, improves liver functions to metabolize the drugs.
It includes raw fruits, vegetables,a rich fiber diet and sulfur rich foods like garlic which promote bile secretion.
Avoid meat, dairy, alcohol and refined carbs which promote cholestasis.
Keep yourself well hydrated.
You can also take multivitamin and mineral supplements to hasten recovery.

If the symptoms continue, consult your clinician.

Hope that I have answered your query.
If you have any doubts, please let me know.

Stay healthy.
Regards.
