                                            Question : I've had pain on my right side  for months now and I'm wondering if if could be related to the singles I've had on my side and back for six months.

Yes, it may be related to shingles but in this case it would be more like burning pain. If this is dull pain and there are associated nausea, vomit, blood in stool or weight loss then some large bowel issues should be considered and it would be good if you do colonoscopy to rule these out. In case of shingles it usually improves spontaneously, but if there will be worsening pain you may need therapy with Acyclovir. Till that I suggest to have easier diet, avoid fatty and fried food, take probiotics and boiled food. Avoid emotional and physical stress. Wish you good health. Fee free to ask further questions.
