Brief Answer:
Possible causes of loss of smell and taste explained below in detail.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

There are many medical conditions that can cause loss of smell and taste.

Some of the possible conditions can be:

-Obstruction in the nasal passages, particularly from polyps.

-Allergy or infection

-Normal aging also may cause a loss of smell, which may be progressive

I suggest doing a nasal endoscopy to check for any nasal polyps.

I also recommend to do a complete blood count to check for any possible infection.

I also suggest a CT scan for further evaluation of the area.

Meanwhile, I suggest to take a vitamin B supplement.

I also suggest to use a decongestionant to relieve the nasal passage.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
