Just received MRI results of Brain Attention IACS without and with contrast. Impression reads: Bilateral subcortical foci of abnormal increased signal intensity are evident on FLAIR and FSE T2 weighted images. These represent nonspecific white matter changes which in this age group are statistically most likely secondary to ischemic demyelination. No enhancing masses. What does this mean? My mom died of Dementia/Alzheimer's Disease.
Most likely due to slight decrease in blood flow to brain.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for posting your query.
I am Dr Sudhir Kumar, Neurologist, and would try my best to help you.
I have noted the MRI brain findings. These do not suggest any serious disease. There are commonly seen and could be nonspecific. However, we need to exclude reduced blood supply to brain (referred to as ischemia). Common risk factors for brain ischemia are high BP, sugar and cholesterol. Get a check up done for these and if found to be high, medicines should be started.
I sincerely hope my reply has helped you.
I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.
Best wishes,
