Question : Hello Doctor,

I have large, painful, deep-rooted pimples that are red, inflamed on my chin. It looks like it is cystic acne and has been there for the past 1-2 weeks. I'm taking fish oil tablets - Is this causing pimples on my face? Please help me to get rid of this pimple - it is painful and it is 1-2 cm diameter in size.

Kind regards
doctor

Brief Answer:
Hi kindly read below

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Considering cystic acne I would recommend antibiotic treatment such as azithromycin 500 mg weekly thrice for 2 weeks. Make sure you dont have dandruff, incase present usr kz shampoo every day for week followed by weekly thrice. I would recommend cleargel to apply at night over affected areas for a period of 10 days. Make sure you have sufficient water intake 2 to 3 litres per day. Use a salicylic acid face wash for regular use. It is possible that fish oil can aggrevate acne breakouts kindly stop the medication and start taking tablet limcee one per day for a period of 1 month.
Regards.
