Question : Last night while lying on my stomach with my head turned to the right I felt an occasional throbbing sensation on the right side of my neck. Today on a couple of occasions I have felt the same throbbing sensation again while sitting. Is this something I should be concerned about?

I understand your concern and would like to explain that such a throbbing sensation on the neck side is just an increased artery pulse feeling while changing body position.

No clinical significance or concerning issue lies being such a finding as for as it is a transient feeling.

Anyway, if the problem persists, I would recommend performing a Doppler ultrasound of the carotid arteries ( in order to examine the blood flow in them) and checking thyroid hormone levels for possible thyroid gland dysfunction.
