Question : My wife is taking 50 mg of losartan potassium daily. Tonight her BP is 140/90 and she is wondering if she should take more. Her previous med was lisinapril and she took 5 mg morning and night.

                                    Hi,
Thanks for posting your query
The BP readings keep on fluctuating throughout the day and may be slightly higher after food, exercise, stress etc. BP of 140/90 is a little bit higher but you do not need to increase the medication by yourself.
Take a serial recording two hourly for a week during day time. Take the readings to your doctor at your next appointment, he will automatically know where the increase in dose is required. That gives him a better picture.
For now a single reading of 140/90 mm Hg is not indicative to increase the dose.
Hope this answers your query.I will be available for follow up if any.
