I would not be worried
Detailed Answer:
Hello, I'm Dr. Branch, thanks for using 'Ask a Doctor'. Different thermometers can have different accuracy, and assuming you don't have any other symptoms (cough, shortness of breath), I would not be concerned about this temperature difference at all. It is still well within the normal range, and you are right in that if you did have COVID or another infection, the temperature would typically rise to the level of being a fever (100.4 and above). So as long as the temperature does not rise to that level, and again, as long as you don't have any other symptoms of infection, I wouldn't be worried about this.
I hope that helps, please let me know if you have any other questions about that, and I would be glad to discuss it with you further.
Sounds great
