Question : Hello doc, my son is 5 months old. Recently for the last 3 days he has not passed any stool and at times it seems liked he may be irritated. Hi is though passing urine as normal. Is this something to worry about? Is there something I can do about it?
Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry about
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. Let me assure you that for a baby of this age, it is normal to pass stool several times a day or even after each feed. Alternatively the child may pass stool once in 10 days and that is normal too. Unless the stool is hard and pellet like, you need not grow concerned. The fact that urine is adequate indicates that feeding is adequate.
Moreover, if the child is exclusively breast fed, you do not need to worry about anything anyway.
Regards
