Question: My 33 year old son has a mass or a fluid like growth on his right side middle back that used to be same size as a golf ball but now it's even bigger. He says it doesn't hurt or bother him. Don't know what it is. It is not discolored, but same color as his skin and he is Caucasian.

Brief Answer:
Likely a lipoma

Detailed Answer:
Hello, I'm Dr. Branch,
Thanks for using 'Ask A Doctor' service.

The mass you are describing is most likely a lipoma, or possibly an epidermoid cyst. A lipoma is a collection of fat cells, while an epidermoid cyst is a benign cyst made up of normal skin cells that get trapped underneath the skin. Both of them are not dangerous and normally if they don't bother the patient nothing needs to be done, but in your son's case, since it is getting bigger, I would recommend he have a doctor look at it.

They'll probably do an ultrasound or biopsy it to confirm what it is. At that point, a decision can be made about removing it if it is bothering him enough to want to do that.

I hope that helps, please let me know if you have any questions, I would be glad to discuss it with you further.

Regards

Thank you sir for answering back. What I forgot to mention is that it looks exactly like a blister one would get on their back ankle from wearing tight shoes. Cause it's jelly like and looks like it has liquid, (water) underneath it. And my hard-headed son wont go to a Doctor or a walk in clinic.

Brief Answer:
A little strange...

Detailed Answer:
That sounds a little strange, would you be able to take a picture of it and send it? Otherwise it should probably be looked at in person, I'm not exactly sure what it could be based on that description. As long as it is soft and not painful, it is unlikely anything dangerous, but I would like to see it myself to make sure.
