My 6 Year Old Daughter Just Recently Had A Swollen

default
Posted on Mon, 22 Aug 2022
Question: My 6 year old daughter just recently had a swollen lymph node appear on the left side just above her collar bone. It showed up 3 days ago and she complained it was sore. The node is soft and I can move it around and it is not really large. Today she said the pain is gone. My concern is what I read on dr google about a swollen node in this area is indicative of a serious disease such as lymphoma. She has no other symptoms. She has had a fairly constant runny nose and congestion all summer, but nothing in the past week. Could this be something serious and is it true that a swollen node in this area does indicate serious disease?

Thank you

Brief Answer:
Consult qualified General Surgeon for clinical examination .

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query .Based on the facts that you have posted small enlarged supraclavicular lymph node that your 6 years old daughter has could be due to infection in throat .However she needs to get examined by a qualified General or ENT surgeon .

You may start her antibiotics like Erythromycin 200 mg twice daily for five days and if it persits consult the specialist .She may need to get removed the enlarged lymph node and to be sent for Histopathological examination .This would help to establish a precise diagnosis .

Do not surf on Google .It will add to your worries and confuse you more than offering any help .

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions, I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.
