Question : My 6 year old started having a sore throat, urgent care said steep even though strep test was negative. He's been throwing up, high fever 102.5 today being the 3rd day, was fine all day today and then all of the sudden started complaining about his stomach hurting and head pain. My 8 year old daughter has been vomiting for the last 12 hrs and complaining about forehead pain as well. Should I take them in?

I have gone through your query and here is my advice.

As per your history, there can be several causes which should be get evaluated.

Please let me know do they have history of loose motion, burning while urination, taken outside food?

For further assessment, I would suggest you to consult with pediatrician for detailed clinical examination. He may procure complete hemogram, ultrasound abdomen, blood/urine culture, peripheral smear for malaria parasites, dengue NS 1 antigen to rule out flu/stomach infection as per evaluation.

Mean while, for fever, you can give syp acetaminophen and syp ondensetron for vomiting. Keep them hydrated. Give soft diet. They may require antibiotics after consultation. Continue steam inhalation and saline gargles.
