Question : My 9 years old daughter had lower lobe pneumonia ten days back and recovered. She has little asthmatic symptoms since six years. But she was continuing with ceftum 250 till yesterday. However she again had fever, vomiting and loose motion since yesterday. Now temperature is in between 98-99. She is having severe gastritis. Can we give Digene syrup after meal now. What may be the underlying cause of this ailments.

Hi,

Digene syrup can be used to control gastritis. But in my opinion, she should be seen by her doctor for evaluation. The symptoms of fever, vomiting, abdominal pain (gastritis) and loose stools suggest gastroenteritis. It may or may not be related to her medications used recently. A stool tests is recommended. Specific treatment will follow based on examination and test results.
