Question : I had a neck scan for throat pain and swallowing, small lesion on larynax, swollen superior mediastinial nodes. Radiologist suggested a follow-up scan of chest. I have 3 generations of family (mom, grandfather and great grandmother who had lung cancer) My Mom's non-small lung cancer is in two year remission, two of three aformentioned people did not smoke. My Mom's cancer was caught early becuase she has scelroderma and compalined about chest tightness, so they did scan and found tumor. My Motherand I are positive for NON-tumor acquired KRAS mutation (see Mirakind) My question is if my chest scan comes back normal, should I still consider a biopsy of nodes becuase of family and genetic history?
Brief Answer:
Ct scan
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Annual low-dose computed-tomography (CT) screening can eliminate the need for biopsy or surgery in nonsolid lung nodules, according to a new study published in the journal Radiology.
In your case it’s not needed the biopsy at the moment
Regards
