Brief Answer:
HIGH CHOLESTEROL LEVELS

Detailed Answer:
Hi....
Welcome to "Ask a Doctor" service.
I am Dr Ajeet XXXXXXX

I have gone through your query and here is my opinion.

Normal total cholesterol levels are less than 200mg/dL.
A level between 200 and 239 mg/dL is considered borderline.
A level equal or greater than of 240 mg/dL is considered high.

The reading of your's is high.
You should do some life style and dietary modifications from immediate effect.
1.Maintain ideal body weight and shed extra kilos.
2.Be physically active and do regular exercise.
3.Avoid alcohol.
4.Quit smoking.
5.Have a rich fiber diet including plenty of raw vegetables and fruit.
6.Avoid greasy and oily meals.
A decrease in consumption of saturated fats not only reduces cholesterol but also reduce low-density lipoprotein (LDL) — the so called "Bad" cholesterol.
Avoid red meat.
7.Stop taking junk food and trans fat.
8.Have green tea which is full of omega 3 and antioxidants.
9.Have foods rich in omega 3 fatty acids like nuts, fish, flax seeds etc.
10.Take whey protein supplements.
Studies have shown that whey protein not only lowers LDL and total cholesterol but also the blood pressure.

For most of the people, the levels start declining after 1 month.

A healthy cholesterol range for you may depend on your age, family history, lifestyle, and other risk factors but it also depends on time of last meal and fat content of last meal.
Please repeat the lipid profile after a gap of 2 months (with 12 hours absolute fasting).
If the levels continue to be high, see your clinician who will start a drug out of "statins" group.
Atorvastatin and Rosuvastatin are most commonly used.
A single tablet needs to be taken at the bed time.

Hope that I have answered your query.

Stay healthy and stay blessed.
Regards.
