Question : My daughter Dru is 14 and is having shortness of breath. She has always been in good health.
Some times when she gets sick it turns into bronchitis, and when that happens she needs a treatment of albuterol throu a nebulizer.
last night she told ne that she has been having tightness in her chest and that its hard to get a full breath, I put a pulse oximeter on her finger
and it bounces from 99 to as low as 91 setting off the alarm.
I gave her a albuterol treatment and she says it helps for about 10-15 minutes then it starts to return to hard to take a full breath.
There is no weesing, no feaver, no body aches, she has had no exposure to Covid-19, her resting pulse is 75-80.
do I take her to the ER of what?

Brief Answer:
Yes, better to take her to the emergency room.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Ask A Doctor forum.
I can understand your concern.
I have gone through the detailed history you have given.
Yes, better to take her to the emergency room and get done a few reports like chest x-ray, Pulmonary Function (PFT), and if needed CT scan to find cause for this.
She might be having asthma and may require regular inhalers and medicines.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wishing your daughter a good health.
