Question : My daughter who is 27 asked me to do this as she is too nervous. She found a lump about the size of a red grape on the edge of her armpit. It comes right before her period and gets flat after her period. It also moves. She is going to a doctor next week but is very anxious.

Hello,

The swelling in the armpit at the time of periods may be something called Fibroadenosis, a condition related to hormonal changes during periods. The swelling is absolutely harmless and nothing much to worry.

Another possibility is enlarged lymph nodes due to infection or inflammation around the nearby region.

She can go for an FNAC( fine needle aspiration cytology ) for confirmation.
As of now, she can take Mefenamic acid tablet for pain relief.

I'd suggest consulting a general surgeon for a detailed examination of the area and s/he will direct you accordingly.
