Brief Answer:
Hives

Detailed Answer:
Thank you.
He seem s to be having Hives- red wheals with flare and itching. You can ask him to rake cetrizine 10mg once a day in evening regularly for 3 - 4 weeks. In addition he can take one tablet of Loratadine 10mg in morning for the same duration. He can apply a soothing lotion e.g calamine lotion to calm down the rashes. These are prescription medications. I also suggest him to get a few basic tests like CBC with ESR and P/s, Urine routine microscopy, Chest X ray, Stool for ova cyst.
Take care

I am just worried if this is allergic in nature or something more chronic.
My dad says , the hives are not red initially, Initially they just itch on skin and once he itches it becomes red.

Brief Answer:
Hives

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Hives can happen in response to any infective pathology, food, food preservatives, drugs etc. You can ask him to take the suggested medication for 3 weeks and follow thereafter. Most of the cases of hives of a few days onset subside with 2- 3 weeks treatment with oral antihistamines.
Take care
