Question : My husband got kicked by a cow on the inside of his left leg just above the knee. This is the 2nd time in 2weeks to be kicked in the same spot. The 1st time he seemed to heal pretty good, this time he had developed a Bullseye like center very red and a Blister on top. This happened Sat. evening and today is Monday. He was delivering Cattle 2 hrs from home so ice was not applied as soon as it should have been. The swelling is going down and it is not as tight as it was Sunday morning. We applied a Drawing Salve and started him on Cephalexin 500mg. on Sunday. I have never seen a Bruise with a Blister before. We put antibiotic ointment on the Blister and have it covered with a light gauze. What more can we do and what should we expect ?? Thank you

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.
I think it would be better if you upload a photo of the bruising on reports for me to see it.
I think you are having the right treatment usin ice and Drawing salve.
You started using cephalexin 500mg and how you have to finish the entire course of antibiotic but I am not sure that you needed it. Seeing a photo may help me think about it.
You are saying that it was a blister so I can think that an antibiotic ointment would be enough.
Anyway once started you should continue the entire course of antibiotics.
You should expect that swelling gets down gradually and that bruising goes away slowly.
The blister should get healed quickly.

Hope I have answered the question.
