My Partner Has Tested Positive For Syphilis And I Just

Question: My partner has tested positive for syphilis and I just tested negative. We both have had no symptoms. Should I seek out treatment if so can I go to a clinic and explain to them the situation abd get treated? If should it be one shot or three
Brief Answer:
Confirm syphilis for your partner first and get one shot for you.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.
Biological false positive results can occur with diseases other than Syphilis with non specific reagin tests like VDRL or RPR. In that case you have confirm Syphilis with specific Treponemal antigen test. If your partner is proved to have syphilis with all these tests, then it is called as latent syphilis, in absence of symptoms.
It is always better for you to have one shot of Inj. Benzathine penicillin 2.4 mega units as an epidemiological dose even if your test for syphilis came as non reactive..
