Question : My right ear is bright red & hot. My forehead thermometer says 97.9 on my forehead, 97.9 left earlobe, and 102.2 right earlobe. Oral temp 98.4. Do I have a fever of 102.2? If not why would 1 ear be burning and red? Very stressed over COVID-19! Because for 4 months I have had a cough/throat clearing constantly all day long. So my throat is always sore and my right ear always hurts. Never been this red or hot before though. My BP is normal also.

Hii. Welcome to the healthcare services. It seems that you are very tensed and anxious. So relax first.No need for taking temperature from multiple site. Put thermometer below the tongue or arm pit. If it is less than 99.5 then u are not having any fever. If you are having continuous cough with expectoration for 4 months then please consult a medicine doctor. Get a X ray chest or CT scan chest. Check your saturation. Start a course of antibiotic like cefuroxime or augmentin. Take montelukast levocetrizine tablet at night. Take steam inhalation. Take warm saline or betadine gargle thrice daily. Avoid smoke, alcohol. If you are feeling chest congestion please start Furacort inhaler (formonide budesonise ) 2 puff twice daily. You can also add salbutamol inhaler 2 puff if breathing difficulty aggravates. Start the above medication, visit the nearby medicine physician. Review if you have any queries.
