Question : My scalp has become very itchy and flakey over the past month. It started just around the hairline on my face, but now extends into my scalp and on the back of my neck. I have never had dandruff issues in my life, and have not had any new medications. I tried using T-gel and it seems to be making it worse. It seems to get worse when my scalp gets hot or sweaty. Higher stress level seems to make it worse as well

                                    Brief Answer:
Seborrhoic dermatitis, ketoconazole shampoo, antihistaminic
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to ask a doctor service
I have gone through your query and you seem to be having seborrhoic dermatitis.
I would recommend you to use a ketoconazole shampoo twice weekly.
Also take antihistaminic like tablet Cetrizine 10 mg once or twice daily depending on the intensity of itching for few days.
This will help in resolving your problem,
Regards
Dr Asmeet

I am not sure I agree with this. I do not have any red scaley patches and there is no oiliness to the areas on my skin. Everything I have read about this condition talks about scaley skin, and an oiliness. I also noted that the T-gel shampoo I used seemed to make it worse.
Please advise.

                                    Brief Answer:
Other possibility is eczematous reaction
Detailed Answer:
Then the other possibility is an eczematous reaction to something you have used in the recent past.
For this I would recommend you to apply topical steroid like mometasone lotion on the affected areas of the scalp twice daily for 2 weeks.
Steroidal preparations are prescription drugs and you need to see the doctor in person to get them.
Take antihistaminic like tablet cetrizine 10 mg once daily at bedtime.
This should resolve the flakiness and itching.
