Question : My son had strep throat and has been on amoxicillin for 3 days and still has a fever of over 103, should I take him back to the dr?

Hi...I understand your concern and I hope the streptococcal sore throat was diagnosed either with a rapid antigen diagnostic testing or a throat swab culture.

Amoxicillin effectiveness is almost 97 to 99% for this particular organism.

The kid will definitely improve; only thing is you need to wait.

I suggest you wait for another 48 to 72 hours and if the fever is still persisting then you may seek medical attention please.
