My Son Is 6 Years Old. We Adopted Him When

Our regular dentist says surgery can be done for him once he grows up but didn't tell us how old is the proper timing. I just hope to check with you on what kind of surgery can be done so his teeth can close properly. and what age is appropriate. He is growing up and changing from a silly boy to a boy with gradual self conscious in his appearance. So I just want to make sure we don't miss the best timing to fix his problem.
Skeletal problem.orthognathic surgey. Age 16 to 17 years.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for consulting Ask a doctor service .
This is Dr. Priyanka tiwari answering your query .
I have read your query and gone through the reports you have attached . As far as i have obserevd your child have skeletal problem . He has protruded Maxilla (upper jaw) that why he has anterior open bite. Treatment opnion for your child is Orthognathic surgery . Age of surgery in male child is 16 to 17 yeras of age when maximum skeletal growth is completed .
So this time your child age is not suitable for orthognathic surgey . You have to wait till age of 16. I would suggest you to visit your dentist for regularly for follow up in 6 month .
Hope this will help you .
If you have further query i would be happy to help.
