Question : My son is having cold for more than a week. It seems he is active and going school. But last night we see him coughing and still cold is there. He is Pavithran and 6 years old. Same symptom for my daughter also. She is 4 years old.

Hello,

These symptoms seem to be related to a viral influenza.

I recommend your son to drink plenty of water to remain well hydrated.

Try to avoid cold drinks and dairy products.

I also recommend a lot of rest.

I suggest to use an over the counter cetirizine syrup (few drops) with honey and ginger to help relieve the cough.

However, if there are worsening of the symptoms such as a fever, rash over any parts of the body, then I suggest getting your son at a pediatrician for further evaluation.
