Brief Answer:
Treatment of choice
Detailed Answer:
Dear parent, I have gone through your question and I understand your concerns but doxycycline is the only antibiotic treatment effective in this case, however I would recommend that he gets a blood test to assess kidney functions ( urea and creatinine) together with a blood test to assess liver functions ( SGOT and SGPT) to exclude damage to these organs . I hope you find this helpful

Is it safe to visit an allergist first without having these blood tests done. Reason being is that we are scheduled with an allergist in the morning because it was a lone star tick that bit him and a test came back low positive for a red meat allergy?
Brief Answer:
Yes
Detailed Answer:
Dear parent, hello again.. there is no problem in visiting the allergist and then get the tests done afterwards. I hope you find this helpful
