Question : My wife, age 70, good health, no medications. Constipated about a week. she is experiencing upper abdominal pain, chills and nausea. I gave her en enema and 1 Prilosec.

The symptoms of your wife seem to be related to constipation.

There are several causes of constipation such as the food that she consumed, the amount of liquids etc.

I would recommend using an over the counter laxative option such as Miralax.

I also recommend taking fiber supplements daily.

It is very important to eat a fiber rich diet and drink a lot of liquids.
