Question: My wife had Gallbladder removal surgery monday a week ago. For the last few days she's complained about sharp pain to her neck and head. This pain is debilitating. We've tried heat, ice, hydrocodone with little relief. She's convinced shes having an aneurism. Possibly a blood clot. I'm very concerned. Is this a common symptom of Gallbladder surgery?

Brief Answer:
Not a common symptom of Gall bladder surgery

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank for the query.

You had not given the details about the age, current medical issues apart from surgery, any other medications being taken.

The new complaint about the sharp pain into the neck and head may not be connected to gall bladder surgery. This can be unrelated too. If the pain is debilitating it should be investigated thoroughly. Please do not come to conclusions of aneursym and blood clot without getting a doctor examination done promptly.

Most of these can be easily treatable with a prompt doctor examination and couple of investigations. Cervical spondylitis, migraine, immobility due to surgery can also cause such pain that your wife described now.

So prudent to see a doctor.
