Question : My wife had cough for almost 3 months from XXXXXXX till Aug. We suspected it could be because of the new Unani medications she started in May/June. Even after stopping the Unani, Cough was persisted. she used Alergy medication and Chest X-ray looked good. Finally she started using inhaler and cough stopped.

She started using Unai medications since last 2 months. Now (5 days back) she started Dry cough again like before. She stopped Unani medications since last 3 days.

Can she use the In-haler again ?

Is there is any chance that we should suspect TB ? If the cough is because of TB, Is it going to persist for 3 months and go-away and start coughing again after 2 and half months ?

Brief Answer:
Not TB yet...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Tuberculosis classically presents with persistent cough along with low grade fever and weight loss. The symptoms go away only after TB infection is significantly treated. That means cough goes away only with antitubercular drugs.

In this case, as per your report the cough was fully treated with few days of inhaler use. Therefore I don't think we are dealing with TB.

Can you explain the current symptoms now?
- Is the cough persistent throughout the day? Worse in the morning/through the day/ at night?
- Is it a dry cough? or is she coughing out sputum?
- Is she having fever?
- Is she having breathing difficulty or chest pain?

Awaiting your answers to the aforementioned questions....

Regards
