Question : My wife had umbilical surgery (mesh) a month ago. She has problems with appetite, pain, gas, gagging reflex. 1 week ago she developed an infection. 1 week after that the infection worsened & the wound had to be widened, puss removed (some green). She has home health nurses change bandages I time daily which I have demanded go to twice daily. Her surgeon sees her once weekly. My question: Should my wife be in a hospital or is there more these home health nurses should be doing or are there things we can do to hasten her recovery?

Pus is suggestive of fact that body defence is loosing against bacteria.
she should be admitted to hospital and antibiotics should be given through parental route i.e intravenous for quick and immediate action.
I would suggest her to be in hospital for 3 days.
