My Wife Has A 5cm Mass In Her Rectum About

Question: My wife has a 5cm mass in her rectum about 10cm in. Her Blood test came back as normal as did her thyroid test. One 4mm polyp was removed from her rectum. The Mucosa and ileum were both normal in the colon. A biopsy was being done on the 5cm mass and they are suspecting a tumor. So with that being said we are planning on them telling us the mass is a tumor but still hoping it is benign. Can they remove it? or do they do the chemo/radiation first then surgery to remove it. Also with Blood test and thyroid normal a well as the other normal things in the colon. Are they chances good that the cancer did not spread
Brief Answer:
Hello. A petct should be done if it is cancer
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear. I have gone through the details. So if the biopst turns out to be cancerous, then a petct or a cect scan of abdomen and pelvis should be done yo look for areas or spread. If there is no spread, that means a localised disease, then ideal approach will be to give chemotherapy and radiation therapy first and then doing surgery in the end. This approach gives best results.
