Question : My wife has been having stomach distress centered around the upper stomach area (upper diaphragm) over the past three weeks on and off, accompanied by nausea. Her latest episode started around 8PM last night. She has vomited 4 or 5 times since with blood in her vomit the last 2 times. Her heart rate is 74 BPM and she appears to have no fever. I will take her to the Mayo Clinic Hospital tomorrow morning

Have you received my question? If so what do you suggest?

                                    Brief Answer:
Consider visiting a doctor....
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your query and here is my advice.
As per your history, it most likely due to bleeding ulcer.
For that though she is vitally stable at present, I would suggest you to consult at ER or urgent clinic care at the earliest as she may require upper GI endoscopy, ultrasound abdomen, complete hemogram after gastroenterologist's consultation.
Further treatment will depend upon the result of these tests and final diagnosis. Till then she can take tablet ondensetron 4 mg and tablet pantoprazole 40 mg. Kindly avoid NSAIDs like ibuprofen. Do regular blood pressure monitoring.
Hope I have answered your query and let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shyam Kale
